Need an Official Record?
Use the record type to choose the correct Monroe County or Illinois custodian:
- Court cases and dispositions: contact the Monroe County Circuit Clerk, Room 115, 100 S. Main Street, Waterloo, IL 62298, at 618-939-8681. The criminal supervisor is extension 237.
- Arrest and incident reports: contact the agency that made the arrest. Sheriff-created records can also follow the county FOIA route.
- Jail and booking records: call the Monroe County Jail and Sheriff at 225 E. Third Street, Waterloo, IL 62298, 618-939-8651.
- Statewide conviction information or self-review: use the Illinois State Police, Bureau of Identification process appropriate to the request.
- Registry information: search the Illinois State Police Sex Offender Registry or contact the local registering police agency.
- Expungement and sealing: file through the circuit clerk for the jurisdiction involved or consult a licensed Illinois attorney.

Main Street, Waterloo, IL 62298; call 618-939-8681 extension 232; or email foia@monroecountyil.gov. Sheriff and jail records are also handled through the Civil Process and Records Division at 225 E. Third Street. Circuit Court files are requested from the Circuit Clerk, not through county FOIA. The clerk counter lists weekday hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
